Capsule Hotels 1/13/20

Capsule hotels are growing tourist attractions in more populated metropolitan areas such as Tokyo, Sapporo, and Hamamatsu. They are good for Japanese businessmen and women who either missed their train home or are just really tired and don’t want to wait for another one, or even just to get away for a night. Capsule Hotels are a good and cheap alternative to booking a regular hotel room and there is isn’t a lot of used up space making it easy to fit a lot of people in one hallway and also leading to cheaper prices due to smaller ‘rooms’. This is also a very new experience for tourists and Japanese people because there hasn’t been many places have opened as Capsule Hotels until recently. There are also some Capsule Hotels that have accommodations such as: lounges, and bath houses including: saunas, and other larger baths (One for each gender).

Brasserie Kyushoku Toban (給食当番) 1/10/20

Japanese schools are mainly known for their healthy and amazing school lunches. Brasserie Kyushoku Toban (給食当番) is a Japanese restaurant that is unique for its 2nd floor designed as a classroom so you can experience what it is like to have a Japanese school lunch. This restaurant is very nostalgic for local Japanese residents because they serve foods that Japanese people once had in their own lunches when they were in school. The classroom upstairs is mainly reserved for larger gatherings, but you can still enjoy the nostalgic Japanese school lunches in the lower, more restaurant seating. Some of the foods that you can get include: “kyushoku…” (school lunch) “…staples such as age-pan (fried sweet bread), soup, curry stew, pasta salad, soft noodles with meat sauce, and…” “…frozen oranges.”* you can also get whale, as a tribune to when meat was more expensive during world war II, whale was affordable and could feed a huge number of people. On special occasions some Japanese schools give students packets with strawberry or coffee flavors, and you can get the same if you want to. All in all this is a really good and nostalgic restaurant for Japanese people and travelers.
